They used to wait until the balloons were down (5-10 minutes) before letting the pyro off. I have heard some rather descriptive language over the years from the special-shape balloonists when the fireworks started early!!! It would appear nothings changed Pete

Apart from the 'special shapes', all the other overseas balloon visitors were from Australia. Kavanagh D-77 VH-BKB has been a frequent participant in NZ balloon festivals and Kavanagh D-77 VH-VDU has also been seen here in past years New kids on the block were Kavanagh D-77 VH-BMT Amateur BJ-31 VH-BOX, a single-seat balloon Kavanagh D-105 VH-KZT Cameron N-105 ZK-EZB Kavanagh C-77 VH-XBJ tried the stealth approach from behind the crowd, and seemed to think that the '25' on the road sign referred to the maximum height allowance
