Nice work Errol. That Dakota is interesting, is that one of the ex-ARDU ones?

Dave, both of the HARS C-47s are ex ARDU and interestingly, with consecutive RAAF serial numbers. I also think they came out of the Douglas factory on the same day but with widely differing US serial numbers.

Some great photos, it looks like it was a brilliant show. A nice mix of stuff, including the F-35 mockup which would have been interesting to see and compare to the Boxkite - what a difference a century makes!
Errol - that first shot of the Boxkite is beautiful. Just beautiful!

Yup; one of them is an aircraft and flies, the other isn't. Errol - that first shot of the Boxkite is beautiful. Just beautiful! It is, isn't it, and a beautiful moment for many of us, too. Regards,

And this is lovely, too, Brett. Real slow shutter speed (I wasn't brave enough to go slow). Can we share this with the Boxkite material (Facebook page www.facebook.com/boxkite2014 and blog) please? Regards,

And this is lovely, too, Brett. Real slow shutter speed (I wasn't brave enough to go slow). Neither was I! Nicely done Brett. I checked for prop speed during the warm-up, and played it safe for the one pass that I knew I would get. Later (and higher) in the pass: CMAPtCook0302_1079flr by errolgc, on Flickr

The opening act was the beautiful Sopwith Pup replica: Largest formation of the day was the Winjeel / CT4 display: The Korean War formation was the first time I have seen a Meteor and Sabre fly together. Note the Mustang is winning... The King Air display was good to see. This is not CGI... This was the first time I have one of the Aussie C-17s in the air: The heavy hitters #1: Hornet: ("missed it by that much...") The heavy hitters #2: Super Hornet: The heavy hitters #3: Auster: Here is a general shot of the area. [EDIT] I've just noticed that there is an RAAF person in the photo. Wow! That camo is really effective! Cheers, Brett

Great photo's all, Errol's Boxkite is a stunner, very cool. the split tone in the cloud from dark to light gives it a nice edge. Photo 5 of the Meteor F-86 and Mustang is a cracker also.

I love that Pup, who owns it? And what is the Emu marking? Is that a genuine Australian Flying Corps scheme?
Great to see those tight formations of Winjeels and Airtrainers, and the Beech Kingairs.
Do the RNZAF Kingairs have winglets like those ones?
I am not sold on the new RAAF camouflage but I think it looks more stylish then their other bush camo that would actually work as camo!

The Pup is the RAAF Museum's www.airforce.gov.au/raafmuseum/exhibitions/interactive/sopwith.htmTrainer mob was good! I was standing next to the RAAF Heavy Lift Group PR bloke when the Kingair display was on. Various experienced media photographers congratulated him on providing a unique formation.
