Good idea, I can talk to the museum too but not sure if I really want to get too excited about this. I have the part numbers so can look at pricing a gold one if someone wants it? I'm sourcing all my parts from Toypro.com so feel free to check my pricing etc. (Or hey, order one yourself if you want) As for copyright there is none I asked. I'm happy to pass to everyone all the lego part numbers if you want. Maybe I'll photocopy them to the back of the instructions and if you want more you can always do it yourself but it's a fiddly (but brilliant) website. As an aside, I also bought off trademe a set of 1:72 scale RNZAF model decals and put Kiwis and numbers on my jets. I work with an ex A4 driver and out his last flight number on it.

The rivets on the wings are totally over scale but please post parts list as I just checked there are two Lego stores in Montreal just over an hour from where I live.

You will not be able to get gold LEGO pieces to make this, but you should be able to make it in yellow. I have made them in several colours, though they are not exactly the same as the original one pictured. If you cannot find the transparent black piece for the canopy, you can use the more common 1x1x2/3 slope. If Emmet taught us anything, it is that you don't have to follow the instructions.

Sorry for the delayed reply. I have the part numbers but it appears they are specific to the Toypro website and not related to actual Lego numbers. Not sure where the guy who's posted the pic of the A4s in different colours got his parts, he may be able to reply with numbers? If not I'll post a pic of what I've written down and you can go from there.

Nick provided me with a photo of the instructions and details of the Toypro parts listing. Thanks, Nick. There are 58 LEGO elements (what trained aircraft engineers would call “parts”) in the original model. So here are the assembly instructions. I re-drew them to make them a bit clearer than the original photo. They show the original canopy design. Skyhawk Instructions Pg1 by Matt Smith, on Flickr Here is a second page, showing the full parts listing and the alternative canopy that I used. Skyhawk Instructions Pg 2 by Matt Smith, on Flickr Using this information you may be able to assemble a Skyhawk using parts you already have in your stash. I mean that your kids may already have in their stash. The parts list contains both the official LEGO part numbers and the Toypro stock numbers. Toypro uses a unique stock number for each colour of each element. LEGO uses a part number for each shape, and the colour is specified separately. If you want to build in a different colour, the LEGO number will stay the same but the Toypro number will change. You can use this information to order parts to complete your model. I mean your kid’s model. Nick uses Toypro and has offered to order parts and make up kits. Some of the parts are in limited supply, so the number of kits he can assemble may be restricted. As he has mentioned the original canopy piece is not in stock. You could substitute my design, either in Transparent Clear or Transparent Black. I have included the part numbers for both options at the bottom of the list. I’ll leave you to sort out the details with Nick. I order parts through BrickLink. This is like a global online shopping mall full of shops that only sell new and used LEGO. If someone has their heart set on the original style canopy, I can locate and order the relevant elements. Be warned, they will need to be shipped to me and then to you, so you will be paying quite a lot just for one or two parts. There you go. In no time at all you can be running around the lounge with your Skyhawk going “Rrrooowwwrrr dakkadakkadakkadakkadakka”. I mean your kids can be. Cheers, Brett

There you go. In no time at all you can be running around the lounge with your Skyhawk going “Rrrooowwwrrr dakkadakkadakkadakkadakka”. I know from experience it's very hard to replicate the sound of a Skyhawk howling by using your mouth (you sort of do a low-pitched, stretched-out "woo" that turns into a "keerrrrr" as it flies by). Playing with Lego or plastic kits isn't the same without the sound I was an interesting child! Thanks for the pics, I'll save those as I can't quite justify getting any for myself yet.

There is normally a point in every model build I find myself making airplane noises.....

In discussions with an ex A4 driver we propose the following. Changing the small 2 piece black bit under the nose for a green one, it makes the nose cone look a bit better. And for the cockpit, take away the two parts listed and exchange them for a 'transparent black' small angled piece (same as black nose bit) and a small 1x1 flat trans-black square on top. I don't have a pic as we used orange but just to see the visuals but it's an improvement.
Have also had it suggested that they'd look good with Tanks under the wings. Working on a design for that too.

Hi Thomas here. I'm new to this site though have been using it for a while for reference photos. Ex Air Cadet form 2013-2018 currently (for now at least) a loader at AKl Domestic Air NZ. Here's some photos of some of the lego builds I have built so far with a few more half finished. flic.kr/p/2iRxcaCwww.flickr.com/photos/149517649@N04/shares/Y1e814

Wow they are really well done. The Harvard, Vildebeest and Hudson (and Ventura?) are quite recognisable. Good job.
