Colin Hay is now the owner of a 7/8ths scale Nieuport 17 that spent some time at Pikes Point and was formerly registed as ZK-NIE. He writes: "I have now purchased this aircraft and it sits in my hangar at Oamaru and is undergoing a rebuild. I am trying to compile a record of its history after it left Timaru about the mid 90's and some of the Forum guys may be able to fill in some gaps for me. It did appear for sale on Trademe from Kerikeri at one stage then from Turners Auction in 2007 and lastly from Christchurch a couple of years ago when I bought it. Currently I have been replacing all the rat-eaten foam ribs in the upper mainplane with plywood and this has been a fiddly job but is now done. Only three foam ribs were left intact." Can anyone help him with details of this aircraft's history please?

ZK-NIE Circa Reproductions Nieuport 11 c/n MAANZ/471 20/3/1992 John D Lowther, Normanby, Timaru F/f 5Jun93. 11/2/1997 Neil R M Lopez, Auckland 2/8/1999 Revoked by CAA. Offered for sale by auction at Auckland March 2007. Good to hear that is gone to a good home. Dave - the aircraft in your photo appears to be the Musso Nieuport 24 bis ZK-NIE/2 belonging to The Vintage Aviator. No connection at all with ZK-NIE/1.

Wing almost ready to recover.
