Great Uncle Bulgaria Madame Cholet Orinoco Tomsk Wellington Tobermory Bungo
Hmm, I think there were a couple of others too. Then in the remake from decades later they added a couple more to satisfy the PC crowd.

Sorry for the belated hit on this forum subject. My Forum surfing is revealing an uncanny tracking of my fathers career in the RNZAF. We have progressed in the last couple of days from his early time in 488 Squadron, progressing to 14f squadron in Japan and now the Queens Flight in 1953. My Dad, Bert Clayton was part of the Royal Flight being one of the ground crew technicians that travelled from memory in a second DC3 in tandem with the Royal aircraft around NZ for around three weeks.
Maybe I should pre-empt his earlier attachement to the Bristol Aircraft factory in the UK and his part in bringing back the first of the old work horse Bristol Freighters to NZ before a thread for that gets underway!

Have you interviewed him about all this stuff Graham, and got it all recorded?

Probably better than that Dave. As you know his memoirs were the catalyst for "Last Stand in Singapore". He has catalogued his entire service life with text and photographs from 1939 until his retirement in 1963. Bee Dawson used many of his photographs for her book on Hobsonville airbase. I am sure he would be happy for his record to be used in any way that may benefit our understanding of our early air force history. Unfortunately he is in very poor health at the moment with his 96th Birthday coming up. I am currently boxing up his paperwork and photographs and will talk to him about letting you or anyone interested access to them.

Love the cockpit shots - brings back memories seeing all those good old fashioned instruments, A3 Autopilot, G4B compass and all the rest of the panel. Almost feel misty eyed.

Great Photo's Don I must see if Greg, a good friend of mine did an interactive pan around, as a photographer he has done some amazing works, the DC-3 was just recent early April, I'll ask him if he can post a link here, he was not happy with the first attempt , you move the mouse or have hot-keys and you are virtually in the cockpit. A good example of his works is in the links on my art website, one is the ART75-500, Greg is trying to get more aircraft into his listing, I spoke to him this morning but never thought to ask - even has the walk thru the cabin area.
