The Australian search organisation has now concluded that MH370 was never at the place they have been searching in the Indian Ocean, and the pings heard were never from the black box. Hmmmm.

I guess it may be a problem accidently releasing a heat seeking missile when practice intercepting another aircraft .

I guess the big difference between AF447 and MH370 is that the Air France machine provided accurate positional information almost all the way to the water. If MH370 had disappeared enroute, it would be a lot easier to trace than through the use of very clever yet quite vague reliance on interpretation of satellite data. Good luck to Mr McCallum and his team. I'd hate to think the loss of the 777 will forever be as mysterious as the likes of Amelia Earhart.

Rad, I'm with you, I want to know what caused this, for me its a vested interest as I've been flying the 777 for nearly 5 years now…and anything that can help mitigate any further unexpected events are a bonus in my book. I regularly (yesterday in fact) fly the indian ocean between the middle east and Perth and on those long lonely sectors in the middle of absolutely nowhere it does not surprise me that they have found nothing. The area is vast, it really is.

Yes a weird one for sure. Working on 777s ever since they came in to Serivce, been type rated on them for 18 years now ....and they are a reliable straight forward machine. Got to think however that with transponders & ACARS being turned off, and the subsequent flight routing, that most of this is deliberate, and they didn't want to be found... so a fair old task ahead of them for sure.

In the days after 9/11 everyone was watching passengers .. now you have to watch the aircrew, after 9/11 it was silly to think you could track an aircraft on your home PC, fact is today many look and follow flights , Idea I put forward on another forum.
I think and again did mention this , in today's world we can see aircraft movements - if everyone has to were a safety belt , a safety jacket .. why and it should be mandatory for an civil aircraft to carry a transmitter that can be followed - great for the plane spotters , a beacon that cannot be turned off - connected to the circuits running engine or UC/gear compression proving the aircraft is safe.
Imagine the ease to find a missing aircraft due to the millions who have the love follow flights on there home PC's and laptops and even there little app's .. the cost would be minimal compared to search costing.

Flight MH370: Disappearance 'deliberate' author says
9:53 AM Sunday Jun 15, 2014
The former chief executive of ill-fated Kiwi Airlines says the disappearance of MH370 wasn't an accident.
Commercial pilot and Hamilton City Councillor Ewan Wilson and Fairfax journalist Geoff Taylor have researched the events surrounding the disappearance of Malaysian Airline flight 370 for a book that is due for publication in July.
The authors told Fairfax that Good Night Malaysian 370: The truth behind the loss of Flight 370 leads the readers towards a revelation through the process of elimination.
Mr Wilson, who has qualifications in transport safety investigations, said he and Mr Taylor investigated the evidence for the book and eliminated all the possible scenarios for the disappearance on March 8.
"What happened to MH370 was no accident. It was deliberate and it was calculated and it should never have been allowed to happen," he told Fairfax.
"The disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 captured the world's attention and shocked everyone - [the outcome] is gut-wrenching."
The authors travelled to Malaysia to carry out interviews for the book, including with authorities and family members of MH370's pilot, Zaharie Ahmad Shah.
"For the sake of the relatives of those on the flight the truth needs to be out there. We visited the departure lounge where families sat full of excitement and anticipation waiting for their boarding call. Surely they deserve better than a cover up?"
It's been more than three months since the Boeing 777 disappeared travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people aboard.
There has been no sign of wreckage from where the plane was believed to have crashed in the southern Indian Ocean, but an extensive search has turned up no sign of wreckage.
The Australia Transport Safety Board last week issued a tender to continue the deep-water search for the ill-fated flight.

Ewan Wilson must have been reading the tea leaves? That guy is a complete idiot. A self made "aviation expert" who would be more at home selling cars or real estate. A shame the people of Hamilton can't see through him and have voted him in as a councillor.

So if I understand correctly, these guys have written a book, cashing in on this flight's disappearance, and their 'startling' conclusion is that "it wasn't an accident" ? Errr, I thought this all pretty much established already.
Mind you it's symptomatic of the media's over hyping of many things news-wise, for example the number of times on TV news or a news website you see the words 'Breaking News' and then it's an anti climatic thing like "car accident on SH6" or some such relatively minor event.

Unfortunately people have short memories, Wilson has ruined a lot of people's lives along the way and should not be able to have the right to now represent or even Govern a community. As others have stated here, the guy is a moron, should be selling cheap, second hand cars in a back alley somewhere. I hope the book is another one of his failures.

Quote from the article: "Mr Taylor said it was "impossible" the plane was shot down or suffered fire, electrical or catastrophic structural failure, or rapid depressurisation."
Yes, we all know how impossible it is for an airliner to be shot down in this day and age!
Without more information it is impossible, and probably irresponsible, to put forward a theory that you say is the most likely cause. They might as well have suggested that Martians took it back to Mars for evaluation!

To state categorically what happened based on the complete lack of wreckage and evidence is not only irresponsible, it is bordering on delusional, surely?
