Saw a photo of her on Facebook, Very sad indeed - one of the stars out before the show even began! Here's hoping the XIV makes it down to Omaka in time to sub in!!

190 ground loop. Pilot exited ok Both main legs detached Prop gone Edit: Confirmed pilot was Frank Parker. G. Orphan saw wind change as it landed Sent from my D5503 using proboards And from stuff ...... Focke Wulfs have a tail dragger instead of a wheel at the back of the plane which made it difficult to control in strong winds,.....

I have just shared that very post on Facebook quoting the same sentence... how hard is it to get a journalist who knows what they're talking about?

A real pity about the Fw-190. I was there the year it had its first woopsie and didn't get to see it fly then.
Has the Spitfire XIVe made it to the show.
Thanks for posting the photos for us unfortunates who couldn't make it.

And yes - XIV has arrived at Omaka And what a surprise as there was all sorts of rumours of engine failure! I was so glad it made it after the poor old 190 ended up on her belly. (and wow did not believe how high one prop blade went in the air) Anyway she will be repaired and Graham Orphan said the owner wants it here for 2017. A great attitude as its an expensive job ahead not to mention the repair work required JEM Aviation know this aircraft inside and out so they areore than likely the guys to do it.

Quite a shock about the FW-190 I was not at the show today but went to AHC to see Knights of the Sky. When I came out the FW-190 was doing a practice display. I managed to get a very distant shot with my VidCam. I did not see the landing and only found out about the accident when I got to my accomodation. I went in 2011 as well and missed out on it displaying so was very lucky this time. Great to hear the Pilot is OK and the Aircraft will be repaired. Maybe one day I will see the proper display. Great news about the spitfire. I haven't seen it since 1994.

What a great day .The FW190 oopsie, and of course the arrival of the MK14 , have dominated the comments , HOWEVER you guys should have seen the applause that the flight of the V1 got ! That thing is seriously cool ( and a bit scary ) . Brilliant . ( if anyone wants to read a little more on the construction of the V1 go to this www.mams.org.nz/Newsletter/April%202015%20newsletter.pdf-- you might have to download the news letter - then go to page 17 )

Yep saw it and loved it but was too far away to hear the applause. It will cause quite a surprise at the show I would think.

Was there for the MkXIV arrival. My jammie son was standing there asking questions about the aircraft and pilot when out of nowhere a nice lady starts talking to him and asks if he'd like to come airside to meet the pilot. Turns out she is John Lamont's wife and so Olly got to go on the other side of the fence where John was garcious enough to have a photo taken with a 12 year old boy who he didn't know from a bar of soap. Even when straight off a long and no doubt stressful flight he still had time to talk to the fans. Nice work. Nice people, these Warbirds pilots The aircraft sounded great and looked great too. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's show.

Gee she sure looks sharp. I am very tempted to ferry over just to see her... Looks like Blenhiem is blessed by the weather Gods tonight - hope it carries through the weekend.
