There were a few other forum members there earlier too who did not stick around long enough to be in the photo, including Dave Lochead, Peter Lewis and Neville "Shorty" Mines. And me . Sorry Dave , I had to pick my daughter up from work at 8.30 ( but I could have been a bit late if Id known about the photo )

Just back from the Cook Islands........(sorry) after a wonderful Omaka. Meeting up with a whole bunch of Kiwi friends both flying and in the stands was great. What a show......... that V.1 epic...... eight DR.1s....... all that action. Aeromedia did a fantastic job as usual and the weather behaved. So where do I buy my tickets for 2017? Cannot wait to see Gavin's photoessay in Classic Wings.

Oh I forgot........... please someone tell me why I can now see all the photographs, the website header photos etc when they were not showing before I left for Rarotonga........ shouldn't tempt fate I guess but it is passing strange !

I've always had a soft spot for the Corsair - and when it's been flown like it by Keith Skilling you know you are in for a treat: Corsair Sunset by Oesau, on Flickr

2017. How about 80 Years of the Harvard, not as a main theme but a sub-theme. With an all out effort a dozen machines should be achievable. Now that would be noisy . . . . . . . . and impressive.

Great idea Peter, A dozen flying machines and probably a few more static.

Here's a few from our little stash of photos. A rather cheerful Fokker... Gene de Marco trundles past in the Camel. The Venetian blind convention. (Sadly missing a Tripehound.) The glorious Staggerwing. Der Würger im flug! Crikey!* (* Not a Whirlwind but the phrase fits.)

Hi guys, I had the pleasure of meeting Bryan for the first time @ the airshow, and flying with him in the '52. He flew it beautifully. Loops/Barrel Rolls and Stick Rolls. Huge honour to have flown with him. I am going to fly up to Tauranga to meet with him for lunch in June. Just didn't have enough time to hear enough stories. Very intrigued with his post-war career as well. May need to take a voice recorder with a tonne of memory! Andy
