I'm a local in the Hobsonville Point development, I thought it would be good to drop in some current images of the historic buildings. Not posted are the rifle range, the storage buildings around Bomb Point, the old electronics workshop (I think?) that is Catalina cafe now Wasp hangar- for sale, hopefully to be preserved Catalina hangar - becoming apartments Fabric Bay with the Seaplane hangar and Armoury behind. The Fabric Bay is an eatery, Seaplane hangar is office space + another eatery The old Headquarters building, community use, including a recent photography exhibition of old photos of the airfield Sunderland Lounge - community use including film evenings. Wasp hangar behind.

Thanks Graeme, it is nice to see these updates. Great to see the old Headquarters building still stands as that was reported as being demolished at one point!

An update - the seaplane ramp is being closed this weekend, and probably demolished at some point. I'll get some photos of it's current state before it goes.
Email from Kaianga Ora: --- The Hobsonville Point Development team is closing public access to the seaplane ramp at Catalina Bay in Hobsonville Point, Auckland because it is no longer safe to use. The seaplane ramp, built in 1928, has been deteriorating for some time, and independent engineers have advised us to close it immediately and remove it in the near future. We recognise the historical significance of the seaplane ramp and are looking at ways to mark this while keeping the community safe. If you have water activity items stored there, we ask that you please remove them as soon as possible, before Sunday, 21 April 2024. The new jetty and water access at the end of Launch Road is nearing completion. Further details on the availability of this access are to come. Ngā mihi, The Hobsonville Point Development Team
