The Wings Over New Zealand Show is about to go LIVE That's right, I have been offered the amazing opportunity to join the line up of great shows at Warbird Radio, the international station that is based in Washington DC, in the USA. Warbird Radio is currently setting up to go live to the world via the internet, and the station owner Matt Jolley is a big fan of WONZ and has previously rebroadcast a number of our shows, so he invited me to join his new line up of live shows. The new live format will start in the next few weeks. Matt has just moved back to Washington DC after living in Mississippi for some time with his family, and he's currently setting up the studio in his new place. Once it's up and running the WONZ Show will have a live one-hour slot once every four weeks. So I'll be presenting the live show, ably assisted by Matt in the producers' booth, and as well as some pre-recorded bits in the shows, we will have live banter, and listeners around the world will be able to call or Skype in and chat live on air if they wish. There's also the potential to have guests chatting live on the show too. The theme of the shows will be oriented around New Zealand warbirds, Air Force, museums, heritage and military aviation veterans. This live show will be in addition to, and not instead of, the currently podcast format. So for anyone out there with warbird or aviation heritage news who would like to get word out there on their projects, products, events and anything else that fits into the genre, please let me know on dave_daasnz@hotmail.com - and the same goes if you'd like to volunteer to be a live guest on the show. I'll let you know closer to the air date all the details of when to tune in, but in the meantime the Warbird Radio website is at www.warbirdradio.com/Cheers, Dave Homewood The Wings Over New Zealand Show

That sounds good. Do you have any idea what time of day it would be (or even what day)or is it still in the planning stages? You're putting NZ aviation on the world map now Dave!

There is the rub for most kiwi listeners. Matt tells me he plans for the show to go out on Tuesdays, 8.00pm (Washington time). That means our time zone, if my maths are right, makes it Wednesday 12.00pm the time to start the show, as they are 16 hours behind us in DC - I think that's right.
However all shows will be recorded and archived for those who missed it I believe.

Most importantly, though, you'll be getting into the biggest market/'listnership' at the right time. The stats for Aircrew Book Review has visits by those in the US (or bots in the US...) as being more than double the next nearest source (Australia). It's a hell of a market. Speaking of which, Kiwi visits are close to being overtaken by those from Ukraine. Quite disturbing. ;-)

The Wings Over New Zealand Show has been quiet with regard to new releases the past few weeks, sorry about that. But there's still a lot more to come when I get a chance to finish some of the shows I am working on. But as well as the regular WONZ Show podcast, listeners should also tune in next Wednesday at 1.00pm (NZ Time) to hear me attempt to broadcast the first edition of the all new Wings Over New Zealand Show Live on Warbird Radio. If you cannot listen live, the show will be recorded and available for download afterwards from both the Warbird Radio and the WONZ Show sites. To tune in to the show click here for Warbird Radio: www.warbirdradio.com/

The first LIVE Show is done and dusted. That was nerve racking! Really scary trying to remember everything and try to get it all in within the correct time.
Another live show in a month's time all going well. Who wants to come on as a guest?

The Wings Over New Zealand "Live" Show will be beaming to you all around the world via Warbird Radio again today, at 3.00pm New Zealand Time - Wednesday 5th of November 2014. That's 9.00pm Washington DC time (EST), on Tuesday 4th of November 2014 - my voice can travel back in time for the American listeners! My feature guest today is Masterton pilot Bevan Dewes, who at 20 years old must surely be now the youngest pilot of a WWI aeroplane in the world. Bevan has been working at The Vintage Aviator's collection - the largest collection of flying WWI aeroplanes in the world - since he was 14, and very recently he was able to go solo in the Pfalz D.III, his first WWI type. He tells us all about the experience. We will also hear about the very exciting event recently that saw two WWII Spitfire combat pilots, Alan Peart DFC and Jim Robinson, return to the air in a Spitfire for the first time since 1945. We'll have a little more news and topics of discussion, and we'd welcome calls from fans of the kiwi warbird scene during the show. To call in and chat with myself or Matt Jolley live on air please Skype us on “Warbird Radio” or if more convenient you can phone in 1 - 478 787 4768 (the 1 prefix is the USA country code!!) And don't forget to listen in live or download the podcast version later from Warbird Radio's site at www.warbirdradio.com

I listen to podcasts while working on models at the weekend, so it was great to have a selection from WarbirdRadio waiting for me on Saturday. It was great to hear the interview with Bevan - the fact he's just 20 is truly astounding! Go him! Just goes to show what you can achieve if you are truly motivated.

Tomorrow I will be involved in the live broadcast of the Warbird Radio Christmas Spectacular show!
This will start at 2.00pm NZ Time Wednesday (8pm Tuesday, Eastern US Time) and the show will be hosted by Matt Jolley with Mike Chilson (of the R/C Scale Builder Show) as his co-host.
And there will be spots for show hosts Mike Hartman and Andy Heins (The Hartman And Heins Show), Zane Adams (the Texas Warbird Report) and myself (WONZ Show Live), plus I am sure some other guests and former show hosts will call in too. This should be fun I am sure. I'm not sure how we will top the absolute mayhem and hilarity of last week's Texas Warbird Report though, that was an absolute classic!

If all goes well with the technology today, I will be doing a live interview with Graham Orphan (from Classic Fighters airshow, Classic Wings magazine, Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre, and the Marlborough Warbirds Association) on the Wings Over New Zealand Live Show, via Warbird Radio. You'll be able to Skype in and ask your own questions, Skype name Warbird Radio. This will be on at 3.00pm NZ time today, straight after Matt Jolley's own live show which will focus on the legendary Bob Hoover and a film project about him. For more and to listen live or later to the podcast version, please click here: www.warbirdradio.com/
