I'm on early shift that weekend, so will be “out-the-gate” not long after midday after parking the train in the cage on both of those days.
I'm also on early shift during the weekend between Xmas and New Year, so should be good for that flying weekend as well.

Right, trying again with the weather! And covering the options for the Hanriot debut (it's possible that will happen here, or at Easter). Taking a different tack with the flights, to WLG mid-morning Sat, back out Sun evening.

Looks like I'll be dodging showers, hopefully the fact that most of the airshow regulars are in transit to Avalon will give us plenty of variety!

Had a nice afternoon at TVAL. Hangar a bit emptier than normal, which let me get nice and close to a Snipe, the Albatros D.II and Brisfit! The Avro 504 was running this morning, but ran into a tech issue. Corsair did a blatt over to the big game at Ekatauna (a bit later than planned I think, due to wx) and gave us a couple of passes on return. Gary and Bevan took up a Fokker Tripe and SE.5a and had a bit of a dogfight. They then answered questions, very informative!
I might post some photos while at the pub later!
Thanks to everyone at TVAL, I plan to call back in tomorrow morning, then visit a couple of vineyards.

As someone who has never managed to get a TVAL hangar tour, this weekend was excellent!
To give a quick summary of Sunday (before I dash off to work): I arrived at 10am, just has Sara was putting the signs out etc. Yesterday's entrance fee covered today as well, & Scott was on hand for guidance and supervision, so I was waved on through. The aircraft were just starting to be pushed out, it was good to see the manoeuvrings in progress. Scott said the plan was to fire up the Bristol Fighter later with the Hucks Starter, so keep an eye out. I did a quick series of photos showing what was in the hangar, then continued doing close-ups of those still inside. Scott started off his tour for a Dutch bloke and his kiwi mate, so I joined in. We did the B.E.2c (and the start of operations), and moved on to the 'above the prop' forward-firing gun (as demoed by the Pup?) when the Hucks moved into position. After a little bit of lining up and prep, I got video of the starting process, Bevan assisting with getting the passenger (Jim) in behind Gene, and off they went. Gene gave us a couple of passes, and went off for a practice. The light rain threatened, so everyone started getting the aircraft back inside.
To be continued

Pass, but I do have a photo. Hey, I thought I was doing well asking and writing down names! Keith Skilling had been planning on taking a S.E.5a up, put this was kyboshed by the approaching wet stuff. The Bristol fighter has metal prop leading edges, so is much more tolerant of rain. Gene landed before everything was in, and the hangar dance continued. As a great bonus, the Hanriot (which had been outside but basically out of sight behind Fletchers over the other side of the field) was pulled over and inside. I took the chance to get photos of it, before joining in the the edge of hangar talk - with interesting and open people! I'll try to put a few photos up later tonight.

Fabulous photo's ErrolC. Whenever I go to the TVAL shows I like to stand and marvel at the detail and standard of workmanship of their aircraft. These photo's capture that perfectly.

Super photos Errol. I love the one of the Avro 504K, it could be Wigram in 1925!

Thanks rayo, that is what I was aiming for. What is this on the Brisfit's right undercarriage leg? Brisfit pumpFuel pump!! There is only one pipe so a small air compressor to presurise the fuel system?
