Guys, Colin was telling me yesterday he has seen these at airshows around the country. Does anyone know who flies one specifically around my area (Waiuku)? I saw one yesterday at about 2,000ft. Well, actually heard it. Sounded like a little buzz saw flying over and I looked up and there was a glider. Looked as though the very small engine was forward of the tail.

Yes that was me flying my Ventus CT (turbo) out to the west coast at Kariotahi, the engine is a sustainer of around 30hp (2 stroke) gives about a 200ft/min climb rate but is as noisy as hell, start is by diving and then settling back at around 55kts , no throttle , had a good day soaring the coast went north to Piha and south to Raglan, didn't need the engine on the way home to Drury nice 20kt tailwind.

Yes, I was in Waiuku early that afternoon. While awaiting her-who-must-be-obeyed to return from the loo, saw said motor glider heading across in a south-westerly direction.

Was great ... would be even better today if there was no rain. THe little Dimona is ex Thai Air force (1983 to 1993).. restored. A new Glider "warbird" Prob dreaming somewhat though.
