Yes - she stunning for sure - and a real credit to Paul Redlich and his team at Tri-State Warbird Museum in Batavia, Ohio....great stuff Paul. Here is the man himself using the wing for a bit of shade. ...and a few photos early on in its initial rebuild in Auckland - back in 1999.
And more recently, during it's current rebuild in Ohio PS - I think the connection with GB Fisken was probably taken from this photo - but of course us anoraks know that is the SU number, and it's actually NZ3072 in the photo. NZ3119 spent its time on No 2(F) OTU as far as I can gather.

John, maybe you could do a photo essay on her one day? I know it would be a big job, but hugely appreciated by those of us who cant get to see her finished? Details like the gun bays, underwing bomb attach points etc...
Cheers Anthony

It's a fabulous plane I agree. One small thing though ..... I notice like 90% of these restored P40's it's propeller blades have the round decals applied. I assume that's how they arrive from the manufacturers? However when you look at war time pictures of P40's very few had those. You can see them on badly weathered Corsairs etc but not on our RNZAF P40's.Not a big deal although you can notice them even during flight yet it is an interesting point of difference for P40's IMO.

Few photos of some Allison engine running last day or so ... engine is a -99 Allison - test dyno uses a J79 (F-4 Phantom) compressor as the variable load - very cool. Rgds Hvd1041

Thanks John! Always love seeing photo's of 3119, not my call obviously but I would love it if they slightly 'tweaked' her paint scheme to be more accurate. Especially since they have gone to so much trouble to get the rest so accurate. Either way a stunning bird. John, one of those Allison's for you? Cheers Anthony

Interesting comment in the warbirds registry regarding the force-landing: www.warbirdregistry.org/p40registry/p40-435813.htmlDamaged after running off runway during emergency landing, Batavia, OH, December 8, 2011. -- Suffered engine failure. - Received parking citation from Ohio State Police. really?
