Probably won't take them 8 years this time around. Is this one staying in NZ?

Wow who would have thought this, two mosquitos restored in New Zealand in ten years fantastic.
Same old questions here, I guess we will find out soon enough, will it stay in the country, which version will it be?

I think it's former IWM T.III TV959 but there have been (perceived?) issues talking about that airframe on other sites, so I'm loathe to do so myself!

I look at this and keep thinking someone really is build an over sized balsa model, It is great looking at it this way, now would be brilliant to have this done in a time lapse series of photos .. made into a little video.

Really awesome ! - It's a tribute to Glyn Powell's vision, those remarkably talented folk at Avspecs, those many other 'behind-the-scenes' who have contributed parts etc, etc, also the enormous Financial Investment and support... and to Us in NZ and the many other supporters worldwide...
It's a testament also to Sir Geoffrey de Havilland and his Team that originally dreamed, drew and created this incredibly complex, effective, indeed Classic aircraft - And in a time of great need, in this case both of metal and aviation superiority...
New Zealanders affinity with the Mosquito is long and close. I believe one was involved in it's early test flights, another was to have the first success in combat, and many others successfully flew this most adaptable aircraft all over throughout WW2. There were also those that didn't have a 'good day in the office' and may We never forget Them...
So I too hope we end up having a resident Mosquito in New Zealand... After all, it was brought back to Life here...
Cheers to All

I thought the next in line was the FHC machine for Seattle? So this may be their one. I visited them recently and they said they were expecting their Mossie finished in the next few years

I believe TV959 is the Flying Heritage Collection example (and I suspect this is that airframe) but other forums have had pictures and mention of the project deleted in the past.

There may have been a change of policy at FHC as I believed they demanded privacy too , then the other day I saw on the Net a video of the first test run of one of their Jumo 004's re engineered for their Me 262 .

The Jumo's were supposed to be a secret. I talked to one of the guides down there a couple months ago and he said it was a very closely kept secret, until a book was published spilling all the details! They even sell the book in their shop

Sadly I read there's very little/nothing in the book about their Stuka...my hope is that, like the Shturmovik, a photo of it in flight will appear from nowhere! Back to the Mossie - phwoar!

Don't expect to see much here on the forum about the Mosquito either, sadly.

I expected as much Dave. I guess we were fairly spoilt with KA114, which makes up for it

With a bit of luck it won't be the last of type to spread its wings locally. Besides I can deal with a couple of years secrecy for a few decades of display enjoyment following....
