I asked about that, too and the guy said a purpose built container was being made. Shark's teeth? Ee could be different and not put sharks teeth on it, since EVERYONE puts sharks teeth on their M... Oops, wrong warbird. One thing's for sure, it'd stand out! It would be nice to see it in an other than RAF scheme. Interesting thing about the USA and Mossies, at one stage the US Navy wanted them as night fighters to defend their bases, but the USAAF had Beaufighters already, but Hap Arnold was very keen on them and was largely responsible for the USA getting them.

The USAAF did operate Mosquitoes that were not just photo reconnaissance versions. See an interesting array of colour schemes here: wp.scn.ru/en/ww2/b/77/3/0

The USA only used them for recon roles, though; photo and weather recon, as well as night raid target marking. They never operated Mossies in offensive roles - the USAAF Beaufighters were replaced by P-61s in Italy. The US Navy was keen on them for shore based defence (defense?) of their bases, but were told to use a local solution instead. Part of the reason behind the Mossie not seeing further use in the US inventory was strategists couldn't see where it could fit within what they were doing; it was a bit of a basket case and its use as a PR asset was because Arnold managed to convince the heads that it was better than the F-5 (PR version of the P-38). Also, DH couldn't supply enough Mossies to go round to all the British commands that wanted them, let alone to the USA, and that's when Canada came into play as a manufacturer.

Zac, you're banished to the naughty corner for a month! In fairness, I bet the French would love to see one fly in their colours

Farewell, FHC! Derek Smith shared some photos of the disassembly on Facebook but as I'm at work I can't link to them.
American enthusiasts are in for a real treat, and I can't wait to see what the paint scheme is. The latest CW arrived yesterday and has a great spread of photos by Mr Conroy as well as an article by Dave McDonald (which I haven't read yet).

Are they assembling it themselves, or did the Avspecs team head up there to do it?

Good stuff! The waiting game to see her final colours is almost over.
Warbirdnerd at WIX said "It is on the way to the paint shop. FHC's Facebook page will have photos of the finished product next week."

It looks great. A fine choice.
Sobering to think I'm the same age as Wagner was when he was killed.
