Teletext is reporting that a Devon has crashed at Ohakea today! It was travelling from Auckland to Wellington for tonight's rugby sevens. They ran into low cloud and opted to land at Ohakea, however for some reason it crashed onto its belly. All nine men aboard walked away!
I wonder who's Devon it was, and why it crashed.

According to the TV3 website it was a North Shore based Warbirds Devon which would probably make it ZK-UDO.

Aw, damn, that's one of the prettier ones. (if a Devon can be described 'as pretty')

Did you see this on TV3 news? It was indeed UDO.
I had to laugh at the pilot, Paul Jones, who at the press conference was qiuite jovial considering he'd just crashed a plane.
Quote: Jones, calmly, "Basically the weather deteriorated en route to Wanganui and I elected to divert the aircraft to Ohakea. Ohakea said I could land here, and there was a mishap on landing." Reporter: "What was the mishap?" Jones, laughing, "I crashed the plane!" Media all crack up! Unquote.
Brilliant.

Just heading home from the North Shore Aero Club this morning after flinging a Robin around a bit and spotted this at the Bayes bus depot just down the road ..... I'm working on the assumption that it's UDO? Cheers, Stu.

Looking at the picture, does this mean it's not likely to fly ever again?

You were WHAT, a Robin. According to my log book it was advanced stalls in an R2120U (finally started flying lessons again after a gap of a couple of decades) but given the fact that I seemed to be having a totally uncoordinated day in many ways - "flinging a Robin around" would probably be a more accurate description. Cheers, Stu.
