Cessnas look so much better on floats.

Actually the photo on Don's book might be one of at least a couple of C180s SSA had on floats (pranged a couple too I see!). True re Cessna float planes too Dave, For e.g the 206 on floats is a much more attractive aircraft than on wheels!! The little VacForm Khee-Kha Cessna model though is such a choice little kit. It would have to be the best VacForm model that I've ever put together. You get resin bits for engine front (2 choices), propellers (3 choices), instrument panel and tail wheel.

So Harry, this kit is a C180/185 kit, yes? What is involved in building the different models - just a window fill and larger dorsal fin?

Bit harder than that, the windows are a template that needs to be cut out of plans, lined up with the door scribing on the mold and traced carefully onto the model. A very sharp skalpel type knife is then required to cut out the correct windows. The plans describe the process well and there are some good photos of one being built on Facebook. The default vertical tail is the C180, the 185 tail is a separate molding as are the earlier 180 cowls, different wingtips and alternative tundra tires

I think Southern Scenic grew out of Popeye Lucas's little company didn't it? Just relying on memory here, which was something like Queenstown Air Trips or some such. David D Yes, Southern Scenic Air Trips
