It looks like I will be going to this, yay! My first Black Sands since 2008. I am really looking forward to the sights and sounds of Black Sands again, and catching up with a lot of interesting folk from the aviation world once again. I will also try to get lots of photos over the weekend, and some good interviews with folk to make a WONZ Show episode, hopefully.
Is anyone else from the forum apart from Bruce and myself planning to go along?

Just a reminder that this is now just two weeks away. the info pack (which includes important notes for those flying in) is on the SAA web page : www.saa.org.nz/events_docs/BlackSandsInfo2015.pdf Proceeds this year are going to special projects for the Raglan emergency services (a resuscitator for the Ambulance, and some portable light for the Fire Brigade) as a way of saying thanks to the Raglan community for their support over the last 11 fly - ins. Bunkroom accommodation is available (see info pack). As anyone who has attended in the past will tell you, this is an awesome, low key weekend, well worth the pilgrimage!

DXQ and I should be there on either the Saturday or the Sunday, weather permitting.
Game for another flight, Dave?

Once again, I have a clash that weekend. I'm going to try to wangle a visit on Saturday afternoon. I haven't made it to Black Sands for a while so a special effort may be required.

I am tempted, but given I was planning on the TVAL weekend and NZ Warbirds Open Day (and the Armistice in Cambridge has been mentioned to me, too) I may have to pass...we shall see.

From the point of view of a local seeing what is happening with the Armistice event, I'd suggest Black Sands over the annual Wargames Cosplay Funfair....

Don't consider Armistice as being worthwhile. Seems like it will be woeful this year judging by the non-entity advertising. That's why for the first time in 15 years I'm going elsewhere

Looks like Saturday will have to be the day for me.
From Sunday on Whenuapai is getting all panicky about HRH Charlie, and is restricting movements.

Well the weather is superb. I will soon be setting off for Raglan with Bruce, for what I am sure will be a pretty superb weekend. I'm really looking forward to this.
This is also the first time in all the years of Armistice in Cambridge that I am not attending that event. And frankly, I don't feel bad about that at all. It's nothing compared with what it once was. The focus has shifted well away from the original intent in my opinion plus there's less and less to see. So Black Sands wins hands down for me!!

That was the best fly-in I have attended. Amazing number of aeroplanes with such a wide variety, awesome friendly people, brilliant organisation, amazing weather, superb venue, wow.
I have lots of photos to sort through, and some footage; and I also have a whole audio documentary to edit for the Wings Over New Zealand Show podcast, which will include a load of interviews with pilot and aeroplane builders/owners from across NZ who attended the event. Most of them have some really awesome aviation background stories to tell. It's going to make a really good episode. I'll try my best to get it together before I head off to Aussie, but cannot promise it.

It was great to have recognised "that voice" and to have met you Dave. The weekend was great. The whether was superb (it feels like summer is here) and you can't beat catching up with flying friends from around the country. Keep up the good work ...
