Hi Guys, I was wondering if any of the old hands on this Forum who might have flown for Rural in the days of the 180/185s, might be able to supply me with a close up photo of the signage as seen on the aircraft of that era. Sure there's plenty of pics on the forum but all i've seen are at a distance or a fuzzy black and white. Dare i hope someone has the original artwork or a close up color pic, did anyone do an aircraft walk around way back then?? I'm probably dreaming but i figure if the info is not within this Forum then its not out there. Many thanks guys, Cheers!!

Hi isc, i received some lovely b/w pics from dakman of CGH in the day. I now know there was two shades of red?? well one red and a shading of red, grey, or whatever. I'm probobly being a bit picky but as the model is 20th scale it would be nice to get the logo accurate. I'm nowhere near painting yet so the search will continue. Pics are out there but, in color and close up, time will tell. Cheers kiwiduster

Sorry can't tell you what red we used, but it was Epiglass reaction lacquer, it was more wear resistant that the single pot stuff. isc

Isc and dakman, Hi guys. The colors of the Rural Logo has been solved with the arrival of a email of a scanned colored Rural letterhead. My 60 year old memory of the colors is correct. The 185 is getting close to undercoating and i will post pics when finished!! I knew the info would be found on this Forum. Thanks guys. Cheers.

kiwiduster Hi guys , I cannot work out how to put up multiple shots so this will have to do for now > The 185 goes well with the Agwagon. Both are the same scale. Dave please shift these to models if you want !! Cheers.

The only thing wrong, it's too bl****y clean, needs some super down the belly. I can't see the front hopper faring properly, not sure if it looks quite right. You'll have to do one with spray gear, and another with a prill spreader, well someone might. Great job. isc ex Rex Dunedin

I have looked at the code for that attempted photo post isc to try to fix the link, but I cannot work out what you've done there. Is that link from Photobucket?

Thanks baz, still not quite got my head around this photobucket thing. That's inside Rex's new hangar at Dunedin around 1966. I'll have another go and see if I can get another one out of the bucket. I think the Agwagon is one we were straightening out after it didn't quite fly between two trees that the pilot used to manage quite OK with the 185, funny that(Sam Bickerstaff is a name that comes to me about that one).
No luck yet, we'll have to think a bit more about this. If you like you can grab a pic or two from there, Rural, and Rex Aviation are the only ones there at the moment. isc

Thanks Baron !! ISC I have made the hopper box on CGH detachable and intend to have a look at making a set of booms to clip on. Might be a little while as im currently fitting the small bits and pieces to a DH Beaver of Rangitikei Air Services!! Shes a colorful beast in the same scale as the 188 and 185.(1/28th) Cheers.

BDD on the left, CHK rear, and CFI right, from what I can remember these were the last of the 180/185 machines down south. Kiwiduster, you now need a fletcher, you might have to build that one from scratch, maybe a PA-18A or a Pawnee. isc
