By the way, it seems one of the obstacles in the way of getting this film made may no longer be there. I was listening to a great programme on Radio New Zealand National the other day in which well known screenwriter Anthony Horowitz was doing a Q&A at a New Zealand conference for writers. He wrote the first Tintin movie and he stated that despite having written the next film's script he now believes no further Tintin films will be made. The reason is the first one made a lot of money, he said over £350 million Sterling (so around NZ$1 billion) around the world but it made very little in the USA so the backers are no longer keen. Usual Hollywood bullshit.
He actually said he found it a huge pleasure to work with Sir Peter Jackson, but not with Stephen Spielberg. He said when first offered the job to write the first screenplay he and Sir Peter sat down and chose a Tintin book, agreed on it and he went away and spent a load of time on the script, which he submitted. He was then called to come see Spielberg, his first ever meeting with him. He sat down at the table and Spielberg uttered two words as he threw the script back across the table at him, "Wrong book." And then he left. So he had to write a script based on another Tintin book as chosen by Spielberg. So now he's actually written three scripts and believes only one will ever be made, which has already happened. You could tell he wanted to say more about Spielberg but he caught himself and turned back to saying what a great guy Sir Peter is to work with.
