It is pretty sad to see the winding up of the AFC. Tim and his team have thrilled and inspired a whole generation of warbird enthusiasts (including me) for many many years. The sale of the collection is none of my business and as the private property of an individual, it had to happen one day.
My question is that of the Hurricane. Was her restoration between a customer and a supplier (ie AFC and Air NZ) or was that a goodwill gesture by a public company? What I am getting at is, is she private property or does Air NZ still have an interest in her?
Can she be sold?

I was always assumed that the Hurricane was restored for the AFC by Air New Zealand Engineering as a fully paid job. If anyone else knows any different, I'd love to know for sure. If she was able to be sold, I should think they'd have no trouble finding a buyer for her!

Bugger! Maybe it was my wishful thinking. Yep, a Hurricane like her should get snapped up pretty easily me-thinks.

The Hurricane was restored with work being carried out in both the UK and at ANZ; paid for!
I haven't heard any rumours of a sale. Where did that come from?

They're having an 'everything must go' sale, Colin
Ray Mulqueen told me virtually the whole collection will be sold on. That doesn't mean some won't stay at Wanaka though, after all there are a lot of warbird owners based there now, and the NZFPM (independent of the AFC) is expanding!
