Twenty Years Ago Today - RNZAF Station Wigram was closed as a military base, after 72 years proud service as the home of the Air Force and birthplace of the RNZAF. Time flies.

I had a good feed of Nachos at the Northern end of the runway on Saturday afternoon. I did look about to try and get my bearings, it is getting more and more difficult as the landmarks disappear out of sight. The New World is opening sometime in the next 2 or 3 weeks. thelandingwigram.co.nz/news/36-mexicali-fresh-now-open-at-the-landingIt opened at the end of August I believe.

It was a damn shame it was not kept open evening only for and used as an aviation park and venue, there were many small business's running, A real lack of foresight, I guess the only thing that come out off it is a now even larger Museum, pity about not keeping the old control tower in the hands off the Museum or within the museum grounds, that would have been an ideal icon for the establishment.
