This 2015-2016 season The Vintage Aviator will be hosting ‘Flying Weekends’ at Hood Aerodrome in Masterson. It will take place the last Saturday and Sunday of every month from November to April.
This particular one is Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th of December 2015.
The flying weekends are casual so make sure to bring your own seat and refreshments. Tickets are sold $20 for adults and $10 for children. Flying will be scheduled from 10.00am – 12.00pm and 2.00pm to 4.00pm Saturday and Sunday, with a Saturday only option of 6.00pm – 8.00pm if flying that day has been held up with weather. Hangar tours will also be offered outside of flying hours. The guided tours will be $15 for adults and $10 for children.

Have just been in touch with Gene at TVAL and this event is definitely a happening thing. Beats going to a crowded mall!

Ha, I thought for a minute Keith and Bevan were chatting to each other on their cell phones.

The Albatros hadn't been running smoothly so Gene got in and fed her the curry. It was extraordinarily noisy

I think ErrolC was going - if he is then I'll likely take up his offer of a lift down there!

No, not doing the family thing in Hawera for Xmas, and don't fancy driving out of Wellington on Boxing Day. Have flights booked for Jan and Feb.

Unfortunately the Hanriot didn't fly. It was a reluctant starter, so it sat in the sun and watched the other planes enjoy themselves.
There were flights by the Nieuport 11, Sopwith Triplane, Sopwith Camel, Sopwith Pup, Fokker D.VIII, SE5a, BE.2c, BE.2f, Albatros D.Va, DH.5, and the Tiger Moth. Also outside in the sun were the BE.2e, Avro 504K and the aforementioned Hanriot HD1. In the hangar were the two FE.2b's, Albatros D.Va and D.II, Sopwith Snipe, Sopwith Pup, Sopwith Camel and the SE.5a.

Bugger, looks like they did fly the Hanriot on Saturday - late in the evening. They are expecting to fly one of the FE2b's today.

It was probably one of the Best TVAL flying weekends we have had, with most of the fleet flying multiple times over the weekend and last evening we flew the Avro 504k, and Hanriot,
we couldn't have asked for better weather it was just perfect and we had a fairly good crowd so we flew lots! Although a little hot we were hoping to fly the FE2b today but it got a bit thermally so we decided against it, the Fee is a very scary plane to perch in the front of when its bumpy.
The B.E.2f was great fun to fly over the weekend

Beautiful. Would have loved to be there especially to see the Hanriot.
