Hi team. An easy one for those that know!
My father-in-law has passed away and I'm trying to write the eulogy... and he spent 5 years (1952-57) as an ACR/ASST. What does that mean??? Thanks a heap, Pete
btw. He was Ernie Sands, who spent 24 years at Fieldair in Pamly Nth - he left us last Wednesday.

Hi Pete, sorry to hear about your loss. I am not certain but I'd guess that abbreviation would mean Aircraft Assistant, perhaps like the RNZAF's 'Aircrafthand' trade.

Thanks Dave.
trolling through his paperwork I'm only now appreciating the history of someone who never discussed his past... bloody typical!!!
Cheers Pete

Presumably he was enlisted as such but surely he would not have been so for five years. Errol

Pete,
Probably too late but ACR is Approach Control Room. As an SAC, he could only be an assistant. This would fit in. Do you know if he was an air traffic controller assistant?
