If you havn't driven down SH1 recently, you may not be aware that the Cookie Monster has struck the DC-3 at Mangaweka  At least ZK-APK looks to be kept in sound condition, unlike poor old BKD at Gisborne.

It certainly looks great in that unique scheme. A pity it wasn't flying in that outfit, it'd be a great crowd pleaser on the airshow circuit. Here's a very old photo from my late Dad's slide collection:  Note the historic Europa service station in the background, NZ's last petroleum company.

Quite apt really, because the Aussies called C-47s the "Biscuit Bomber" in the SW Pacific.
I wonder how many Cookie Time biscuits you can squeeze inside a C-47? The Operation Deep Freeze guys at Harewood used to love quoting that a C-141 Starlifter or C-5 Galaxy could hold so many thousand ping-pong balls, cotton buds, etc! I wish I'd kept all those leaflets they used to handout when I was a kid.
