This came from PAL's facebook, late February. Here is that word aircrafts again. PNGDF signs deal for six new aircrafts The PNGDF and Central Supply Tenders Board(CSTB) signed an agreement on Monday Feb 23 for the acquisition of a new aircraft that will be purchased and brought over from New Zealand . In total there will be six aircrafts purchased under this contract arrangement over a duration of five years. The agreement will also see training facilitated by Pacific Aerospace to also cover training of pilots and ground crew for the new acquired planes. CEO of Pacific Aerospace Damian Camp says the training will take place in Hamilton, New Zealand and will cover basic flight and maintenance requirements of the two types of planes. In total there will be four PAC 750 planes and two CT 4 military trainer planes bought over under the package. The PNGDF Commander Gilbert Toropo, when signing the agreement said that those planes will be very useful for PNGDF to assist with defence call out requirements. He says the PAC 750 would be exceptional to land on our rugged short landing strips around the country. Toropo says that this agreement is a real boost to the capability needs of the air element in the PNGDF. Meanwhile, the first three air element officers have already been screened and are set to go down to New Zealand to begin training. While the initial PAC 750 plane is set to be in the country before the end of the year. So are the 2 CT 4 quoted above new or a couple of the old ex RNZAF

So whats the actual story with these aircraft, the story goes when they were returned to PAC the old owner of PAC turned up with a couple of mates and claimed "his" aircraft back totally unknown to PAC, apparently they didn't own them. Hence why they are sitting where they are. A fellow forum member here helped fly them to Napier.

It's all due to the way the CT-4s were supplied to the RNZAF. PAC built them, but beyond that never owned/operated them. The RNZAF never actually owned them either. They were transferred to a separate company to manage the lease agreement to the RNZAF. Aeromotive did all the on-going maintenance as both companies (PAC and Aeromotive) at that time were owned by the same corporate body. PAC provided parts and structures, Aeromotive provided the maintenance engineers and sign-off. The leasing company was owned separately but managed by the same people, hence the perceived confusion. When the lease agreement with the RNZAF finished, the aircraft were returned to the leasing company which was at that time still associated with Aeromotive. When Aeromotive as a maintenance business was sold, the leasing company was not part of the deal. The leasing company owner had relocated to Napier and so ferried the aircraft to their new base of operations. It is all the logical outcome of the way the business was structured at the outset. No "outlaw" activity involved.

There was a whole lot of them in one of the hangars in NPE last week. Didn't get a count as it was a surprise as the taxi went past.

ZK-PTM ex NZ1997 was not evident while I was there. It may be stored away, or residing at another location. On the way through to the disaster that was Masterton, I whistle-stopped at Napier. A number of the Airtrainers were parked outside, mostly with covers on. Unfortunately ZK-PTM was not one of them. However, I did spot it tucked away inside the Flightcare hangar. So we now know that it is there with the others.

Nope, that's a CT/4B. The ones at Napier are the CT-4E's.
