George, I am intrigued by your wish to get a flight in the DC-3 to Whanganui. Air Chathams has a DC-3 (ZK-AWP) and they do operate scheduled flights on their timetable to Whanganui but they do not do scheduled DC-3 flights to Whanganui. Could you elaborate?
Auckland Airport should be back to normal services by tomorrow. Yesterday's weather event was like none other experienced at Mangere and matters were not helped by the damage to lights by a landing aircraft the same day. On that basis I'm pretty confident it will be business as usual when you arrive in New Zealand.

Very simple I flew DC3 VHMMM at West Australia 1965 to Dec 1966. Interesting trips like Perth to Port Hedland. Leave at 8pm with two stops and one night thru a thunder storm for 2 hours. Log book says 2hrs IFR and total of6hrs night. I have read a book (Fate is Hunter) We arrived at Port Hedland about 3am.

Chat's do flexible very well.
