7571 seems to be making a lot of trips to Wellington lately, anyone know why?

...cos' you can't beat Wellington on a good day?.... That statement is outrageously true and accurate ! Its probably just NZDF staff movements, or 757 crew training. There was word going around that Lockheed staff were coming out here for C-130J pitch.

hahahaha, good luck on that. waste of time looking at C130 Did you mean waste of time looking at the C130J or C130??. I have looked at a C130 many times over the years and its never been a waste of time. Theres nothing else to look at for the RNZAF its C130J or nothing. The deal Lockheed are coming out with is apparently too good to be true, and will be signed.

The C130 does not fit into the doctrine of NZ for the next 30 or 40 years. Yes I have worked on them, flown around the world a few times in them, won international tactical exercises with them, but alas their size is not what we need. Too small to carry the NH90, too short range to get to the ICE and back non stop, and then at times too big for some loads. My advice is to admire while you can.

I just hope we get something, whether it be Whitetails (ok highly unlikely), or A400M's or C130J's or whatever :-)

I thought we had pretty much covered future RNZAF transports to death in another thread?

I would like to know.
Is the PM travelling about Europe on one of our 757’s? Reasons for thinking about it are;
Absolutely no mention by sight or sound on the news of how the PM is travelling which indicates to my suspicious mind that the RNZAF is involved and nothing has gone wrong.
Secondly, heard a Herc trundle over Feilding on approach to Ohakea about 1000 this morning, about the right time for a Friday shuttle.
I wonder where the other 757 is?

I wonder where the other 757 is? Winston is also in Europe, maybe he took the other one just to use a bit more oil?

Looks like a 757 departed Ohakea last Thursday to Iraq. "The seventh contingent of Defence Force troops is on its way to Iraq to train local forces". "About 100 personnel flew out from the RNZAF base at Ohakea on Thursday afternoon". "Since the mission began in 2015, New Zealand and Australia have trained nearly 34,000 soldiers". "The Defence Force said it had helped Iraqi's forces to become self-reliant and confident". "It said some of those trained had helped reclaim parts of Iraq from Islamic State". www.radionz.co.nz/news/national/355547/defence-force-troops-on-way-to-iraq-to-train-local-forces
