I'm surprised no body has commented on the suggestions made in the Army News to combine recruit training for all three services into one facility. An army facility of course. I think. It's referring to the two land based services army/airforce . All training in the navy training is more based around life on ship and basic mariner skills.

Is the initial stage of tri-service officer cadet training still conducted as a combined activity? I know at least a one trial was conducted and no it was not in an Army facility. Well unless the Army has taken over Woodbourne.

There is plenty of housing here now. Prices have actually dropped because there is more supply than demand (take note Auckland, it does work!). It is also a lot cheaper out in the big new subdivisions at Rolleston (near Burnham) than it is in Chch itself.

Well I hope the subdivisions out at Rolleston are better situated than they are around Kaiapoi. When I left North Canterbury the housing estates around Kaiapoi were going up in a flood prone area or a area which had been farmland in summertime only. It is surely a case of buyer beware.

Recently the initial few weeks of all NZDF officer training has been combined at WB. I'm not sure if that is still on going though, and it was the initial weeks, after which the three services went off to their respective bases for their own service training.

I agree, what they are doing around Kaiapoi and many subdivisions north of Chch is a recipe for another disaster (flood and earthquakes). Rolleston is OK, nice solid gravels - like Wigram!
