My tour of the Army Museum's reserve collection has been postponed so I'll be up in time to take in some practice flights tomorrow afternoon. Can't wait!

I wish I'd heard about this earlier, so I'm looking forward to seeing everyones' images from it instead.

Went to the first session, sadly my son decided it was home time before the second. Fantastic flying, brilliant day, huge crowd, long lines of traffic to get in. Thank you Warbirds for a great display. Also thank you RNZAF nice to finally see a Texan and NH90 in Auckland the flesh. Now there just needs to be a big show at Whenuapai....

That was a nice way to spend a beautiful winter's day. My highlight was the Spitfire display. I am a bit snooty about the two seater, but it looks great in the air and it was flown with grace and precision today. I also thought the ZK-WAR solo display was really nicely done - agreeably low and close. It was nice to see the Catalina out and about again. She seems to have gained a few more aerials and protrusions during the overhaul. The only downsides were the massive food queues (I really should learn) and having to look into the sun all day. I think I still have a squint on now. Can anyone tell me a bit more about this delightful machine? It's love a first sight for me.

She stole my heart too - possibly the most beautiful aeroplane I have ever seen ...
Does anyone know who flew the Spitfire and P40 sequences? Very nice both of them.

Fwx, I'm happy to be corrected if I'm wrong, but I believe the Spitfire display was flown by Doug Brooker before Gavin took over for the airfield mock atack, while Frank Parker displayed the P-40. Agreed- very nicely displayed!

Yes, the weather gods were kind. Despite the early morning fog I managed to get across from WP before airfield closure. Although I had to leave early (before the final display) it was worthwhile, as I was able to view three new-to-me aircraft and chat with Dave for a while. The NuWaco ZK-WTW I had heard about, but not seen - see above. The display Texan II was one I'd not seen before, NZ1409 and Doug Booker put on his usual polished display in his new mount ZK-MXS This Titan Mustang I couldn't identify - it's not ZK-YNZ as thats still a Yak-52 Finally looking at the number of parked cars visible in this rather a hazy shot out of the grubby side windows of the 152 as I departed gives some idea of the sizeable crowd that came to the event

Thanks Spitfire14, I was especialy impressed with Doug's routine, he was pulling some pretty tight circles around the airfield - I was on the gate at the time, so had a different vantage point to the usual.

You can just see the Titan's rego under the horizontal stab ;-)
I had a fantastic day. The Texan II was a real highlight, likewise the Catalina - it was so great to see it displayed and flying lots of rides. Congrats to everyone involved and thank you to all the volunteers, with all that traffic it must have been a truly thankless job.
