Back in the day it was common to see a variety of wall charts in the hangars and smoko rooms. Piper did a couple and it was probably the 1987 one, celebrating the 50 Years, that I am thinking of. Would anyone here have pics or otherwise have access to such charts ? It would be great to see the complete range on that 50 Year chart again. The other pics are of an older version and presumably more likely about 1972/73 judging by the last models featured.

Somewhere I've got a multi-page full-colour sales brochure (in the form of a booklet) from Piper advertising their aeroplanes.
I reckon it must date from around 1964, as the PA-24-400 Comanche with the 400hp engine features as one of the models available.
From memory, featured models include the Aztec, the Apache, the 400hp Comanche, the 260hp Comanche, several models of Cherokee with horsepower ranging from 140hp to 235hp, the 150hp Super Cub and the Pawnee.
I'm not 100% sure where it is, but it may be in one of a number of boxes of aviation-related stuff stashed in my shed that have never been unpacked since I moved from Gisborne to Masterton in October 1998.

Piper have just sent me an email advising it is their 80th Anniversary and that they sell a range of products to celebrate, clothing, mugs etc. I sent a reply suggesting that another wall chart similar to the 50th could also have appeal to some owners. www.piperpilotshop.com/Products

My bedroom wall, as a normal well-adjusted 12 yr old boy (1977), was adorned with posters and centrefolds... advertising the latest GA aircraft, Cessnas and Pipers especially. The Piper genealogy chart featured here as well. I knew every single model by heart. I must have been a NERD!

I asked my mum to laminate a centrefold for my wall once, and I think she was disappointed it was a Stallion 51 cockpit photo rather than a lady!

Click on the picture to download a copy of the brochure for the PA24-400 Comanche 400 (2.83MB PDF document) I understand only 148 examples of this high-power model of the Comanche were produced in 1964 and 1965. As far as I know, none came to New Zealand, although several were sold in Australia (a number are still on the Australian civil register). I also understand that the Lycoming IO-720 400hp engine was developed specifically for the PA24-400, although versions of the engine ended up being used in several other aircraft, including the 400hp Fletcher.

That “FIFTY YEARS OF PIPER 1937-1987” geneology poster is actually available for sale at numerous places via the internet if you search for it.
Including on eBay and from various aviation art and poster dealers.
