A thought just occurred to me. The Catalina will be in Auckland for the Navy event the following weekend, so hopefully will be here for this? I still haven't managed to lay eyes on it since its return, and viewing opportunities my be limited from inside the DC-3 (if all goes to plan) on the 19th!

Air Force King Air may arrived - Japanese visitors perhaps? There are 5 Tiger Moths lined up. A bit breezy, but not too much crosswind. And Venom in circuit! Sent from my E6653 using proboards

Unfortunately, Philip, these sort of people do come out of the woodwork from time to time and do their little Hitler routine.
It was exactly this sort of action in the Auckland Car Club that drove me to drop out of motor racing many years ago.
Such is life.
(Regrettably I was unable to make it over to Ardmore today due to health and stress problems).

My wife and I took our Morgan 3 Wheeler out there this morning. We had been invited through the Morgan club to be a display vehicle. Unfortunately a clipboard weilding git near the new hangar had other thoughts. After parking in the display area he came and told us to leave as we weren't on his list and to leave the whole area completely. Despite being asked to attend on this and numerous other occasions Despite being a Warbirds member Despite having an aircraft at Ardmore and being entitled to enter the airfield Despite accomodating Warbirds members at my Whitianga house on 2 occasions for Warbirds events Despite entertaining for free at a Warbirds function at Whitianga and assisting all day, the day after my father died So I won't be renewing my membership next year and in future when they want something they can get stuffed. I guess unless you win Powerball, don't expect too many thanks from Warbirds. Might be the same person that asked a resident that lives in a hangar there to prove he lives there and was not going to let him go home! Cheers, Colin

Does anyone have any photos? Was the weather nice enough for the BE.2 to fly? Could do with some cheerful images!

The weather was nice but it was windy as hell. And the BE2c would not have flown anyway as there was no pilot.

Thanks Dave, I figured something was stopping it as there's been nothing on Facebook. I hope it was worth your trip!

Phillip.....why blame a whole organisation for the actions of a misguided individual [clown??] Hardly the fault of the Directors of Warbirds . Sometimes we need to look at ourselves

Not to worry....there should be plenty of suitably qualified pilots at Hood Aerodrome the weekend after next when The Vintage Aviator kicks off the first of their flying weekends for the season. Fingers crossed mother nature doesn't do the dirty on the place with bad weather.

I agree with Dave that Mark's photography makes mine look very amateurish. The dramatic effect is quite impressive!

Great collection of pic's the way you have captured these machines really tells a story, I love the antique effect you have created, is this a secret technique or do you share?
