Errol , as of this morning , bright and sunny now !!! the US P3, the pair of Japanese P1 and a small twin were parked as they have been for two days. No sign of either 757s Interestingly no sign of the Republic of Korea P3 Orion at Whenuapai, or is it tucked in the hangar? It had a couple of maintenance issues before it left Townsville several days ago and to the best of my knowledge it did reach Whenuapai but its not visible. Any ideas?

The Japanese destroyer didn't have a helicopter on show (couldn't go inside, and hangar closed). No Korean chopper either. Chinese chopper on deck, but queue was too long for me.

We went back up today. Fantastic weather, a huge crowd in the city. Really busy! We joined a queue and stood for three hours to get onboard the RSS Resolution from Singapore. It was worth the wait I think, as it was a very neat experience being shown over such a large ship. But by the time we left the vessel we were tired, hot and very hungry so it was off to the pub. In the end we only got onboard one ship as it seemed pointless queuing again for another three hours to see a very similar ship. But the day was great and it was a really neat experience. I doubt we'll see so many naval ships in NZ again together.
The Resolution normally carries either a Chinook or two Pumas, one of the chaps said. Did they bring any helos to NZ though? None were onboard. Are they at Whenuapai?

That RSS Resolution would have been a better choice than the Canterbury hull you think, or too big ??

If anyone in Auckland is after some more pictures of the Naval type it may pay to head to North Head or be harborside early this afternoon.
AIS MarineTraffic has the Kaikoura relief flotilla about to enter the Colville Passage inbound at this moment.

Terrific to see these photos. Wanted to head up north but for a bit of a tremor in the South Island, so excellent to see, Dave and Will.

Thanks for the photos Dave! It's great to see so much hardware on show, and to see so many members of the public having a look.

It had a couple of maintenance issues before it left Townsville several days ago and to the best of my knowledge it did reach Whenuapai but its not visible. Any ideas? It would seem that this aircraft has been hanagared at WP with maintenance issues. It was outside late this afternoon, and was about to do an engine test run.
