I am really looking forward to this. The trailer looks great and I trust Nolan with the story. And as for those 3 Spitfires - be still my beating heart.

Too bad there will probably never be a Battle of Britain sequel to this, make it a 1940/Finest Hour combo.

Hi, I have today joined the blog and I thought I would share that I was asked to supply the instrument panel to the Spitfire that starred in the Dunkirk movie. An American company who supply helicopter and fixed wing aircraft to the studios called me up after finding me on the Spitfire Aircraft Company site and asked for a MK I panel. After a little while I guessed they were doing a movie about the Spitfire that force landed on Callas beach during the Dunkirk evacuation so I pretended not to guess and quoted a very early MKI panel with twin fuel gauges etc, exactly the right panel for that aeroplane. They wanted it yesterday of course, studios always leave things to the last minute as I found out when asked to make a canopy latch to a UK TV series a few years earlier. I frantically gathered the items, some from the UK and the USA and some I had to manufacture and got it done in the 9 days. The photo is the panel in the transport box I had to build, some items they got a couple of days later as I had yet to finish them or they hadn't arrived from the suppliers yet. The panel was in the Spitfire where they smashed the fuel gauge..... They modified it a bit....they used a Yak 50 for the close-up flying sequences (you can tell by the incorrect fuselage shape) and they trimed the outer edge so to overlay it over the Yak 50 panel. Those who have noticed the web site for Spitfire Aircraft Company is off line, Russ retired and in a rush of blood to the head shut shop. I have re-established what he started and we call it Spitfire Aircraft Workshop. The web site is now up Regards Bruce
