Hi all It's 30 years since I started my license and Stratford... I know it's a couple of weeks away but is anyone here looking at heading down for the day from Hamilton / Te Kowhai by air (or closer than 100Km from Hamilton since SD is 270Km from me)? Happy to share gas / cost etc. I have accommodation if needed so to and return dates are flexible (and I'm sure my 88yo Mum would be happy to see me ) Cheers Pete 0276-272363

A welcome day of fine weather at Stratford. They must have friends 'upstairs'. Earlier in the day, before most of the crowd arrived, even the mountain popped out to take a look. Most of the locals took the opportunity to be active. One of the newest was the Monnett Sonerai ZK-SNG, painted up in the correct colour to keep cool on a sunny day. As usual, a dig around the hangars came up with one gem - the reclusive Phoenix Luton Minor ZK-FSU. The Ravensdown Cresco ZK-LTH returned from work and, after a brief hiatus, gave a demonstration on how it earns its living. Quite a rare sight to see this at an airshow these days. Well done guys. For most of the crowd, Ditch harding and his Spitfire replica ZK-SPT were the star of the show. After a flypast on arrival from Wanganui, the Spitfire landed and the locals were given the opportunity to inspect. Then a few more low-level passes before it went back home. All in all, a nice local aero club open day. Well worth flying two hours there and two hours back.

Nice Peter I only just got home... still editing out that beautiful bright sky but that will have to wait as today's wx is just too good to be here!!! It was also a chance for me to be "son of the year" to my Stratford Mum lol.

I'm glad to see it went well. I couldn't go due to prior commitments in Wanganui, which meant I got to finally see SPT flying as Ditch orbited the city once or twice. Sounds pretty good!
