WONZ Warbirds Hangar Forum Meet 2017
Celebrating the 80th Anniversary of the RNZAF
Saturday 1st of April 2017
Ardmore Airport, Auckland
Starting at 10.00am
The ticket cost will be $20 per person - book by emailing me at dave_daasnz@hotmail.com
Hi everyone,
Once again we have been working with John Kelly and his great team of folks at New Zealand Warbirds Association to put together the next WONZ Forum Meet.
NZ Warbirds will host us in their lovely new hangar, which will be even better than the past events they have hosted. They will also be running a BBQ on the day and the Warbirds Bar will be open a little earlier this time to welcome us all in for a more sociable meet and greet.
We'll also have some very interesting guest speakers, as always, so watch this space for news on that.
We will also bring back the Forum Meet Raffle, with the proceeds raised going to the RNZAF Missing Wingman Trust. So if you have any aviation books, magazines, DVD's, models or anything like that which you'd like to donate to the raffle as prizes, they'd be very welcome. Bring them along on the day and add them to the prize pool. In the past we always draw a ticket for each item donated,so there are lots of chances to win a prize.
We have some other exciting ideas being worked on behind the scenes, which we'll announce soon, but if you're keen to come along, please email me to indicate so we have an idea of numbers to expect. Get in quick, it's not that far away.
The theme of the event is to mark the 80th Anniversary of the RNZAF, but it probably won't all be RNZAF related content as we like to have a little variety.
And if you have any ideas yourself, please email me with them.
By the way you can certainly invite non-forum member friends who're into aviation to come, we always welcome that - they do not have to be members here. The more people, the better.
UPDATE:
Guest Speakers so far confirmed.
Stan Walker - a very special guest, Stan was an RNZAF pilot and he flew as a second pilot in Short Sunderlands in No. 490 (NZ) Squadron from West Africa during WWII
Steve Taylor - NZ Warbirds pilot Steve will be giving a talk about his experiences flying warbirds over the years with a particular emphasis on the Hawker Sea Fury that he co-owned and displayed on the airshow circuit.
Geoff Cooper - The Fly DC3 chief pilot, Geoff will give us a talk about flying C-47's in the RNZAF, and then he will give a walk around lecture with ZK-DAK "Betsy" so you can get up close and personal as he talks about the wonderful Dakota - just before he takes up the scenic flight.
Flight Lieutenant Dave Natapu, No. 40 Squadron RNZAF - We'll hear from FLTLT Dave Natapu, a co-pilot on the C-130 Hercules with the mighty No. 40 Squadron RNZAF, speaking about current operations of the squadron.
Cliff Tait Former test pilot and record breaking ferry pilot Cliff Tait will be presenting his slide show and telling us about his flying experiences in a rare opportunity to hear him talk these days.
