I think that would be F J McDonald, there was such a pilot in circulation at that time, as was R Morphy. Think the latter was later a member of RNZAF in WW2, Roy Borgia Morphy, a Squadron Leader by 1942, if not mistaken was CO of 16 Squadron (Woodbourne/Fairhall) by that time. Errol M will correct me if I am wrong in this speculation. David D

Was a member of the NZAF from 1935. Held Pilot's 'A' (1933) and 'B (1939) Licences as well as Ground Engineer Licence(1933). Similarly Frederick James McDonald 'A' (1930), 'B' (1932) and Ground Engineer (1937). Enlisted RNZAF as an LAC in 1934. Errol

Roy Morphy was chief engineer with Wellington Aero Club during the 1930s and was responsible for the assembly of the club's second Waco ZK-ADE

Its possible AAZ was rebuilt by Bert Dingle who had an aircraft rebuild business behind his Miramar home but I have no record of it. AAZ was originally fitted with a canopy, it was not very popular with flyers and the canopy was removed when the aircraft was rebuilt following an accident. Maybe it was removed following the accident depicted at Whanganui, however its impossible to tell from the photograph if a canopy was fitted at that time

In the shot of the wreckage being manhandled upright here appear to be some airframe parts I am unable to identify
