And this 'hack' from a FB post may help..? "To everyone having this issue, this worked for me. Log in and click on the image, then click on the Magnifying glass icon. then back out again. after i did this to my pictures, they appeared again on my account and also on the forums they were linked to (after i reloaded the page). I hope it works for you."I have no idea why but this seems to be working, but only for some of my photos!! And now some that were working, aren't. I give up.

I've got two Photobucket accounts.
One is a freebie account and one is a paid-for account.
The images uploaded to the freebie account are still displaying at various messageboard forums I have posted them to, but as already posted, the tools to post images have now disappeared, so new images cannot be posted.
However, I'm trying to find a way around it, as I have in the past managed to create the URL to those images independently of Photobucket's tools.
Since about three years ago, I've only used the paid-for account to upload photographs, so I don't anticipate any future problems.

I have the header and the forum banners repaired, looks like all of them are working now. If anyone sees any get broken again please let me know.
As for the thousands of photos I have posted to the forum, I simply cannot repair them all by changing where they are hosted. If anyone comes to an older post where the photo link is broken and they particularly wanted to see the photo/s, let me know and I'll try to repair the photo at that time, if I still have the original. I have four Photobucket accounts, three of them full, so it means a lot of photos!

Sorry to say the Headers are not showing on all pages Dave. See Air shows and Air displays.
Very weird though as my photos from my free bucket account seem to be all showing (As far as I have looked). I was not logged into either account when I first looked. Maybe there is a usage limit being enforced I have minimal usage.

Sorry to say the Headers are not showing on all pages Dave. See Air shows and Air displays. The header is showing up fine for me. Can you check again please? it's not longer hosted on Photobucket, so should work.

Oh you're talking about the advert banner, not the header (with the Spitfires in it)? But both are showing up for me. Is anyone else not seeing them?

Looking at the chat on line from the response to FB there seems to be alternatives that are free. Will they work on WONZ Dave ? I am happy to move but need a few suggestions as WONZ without photos isnt the same place we are used to .

This is the Facebook (no login required) page for 'Photobucket', and judging from the comments being made they may have just unleashed the perfect storm backlash...?

I have been running a paying site with Photobucket for some years, mainly to get over the bandwidth restrictions of the free hosting. I pay an annual fee, but it's nowhere near the NZD560 that they appear to now want to charge.
My interpretation of the new rules are that my current sub will run for some months until the current paid year expires, and then in order to keep the exsting photos embeded I would need to upgrade to the $560 model.
Certainly we will need to dig around to find an alternative host - I did find one that actually worked when PB was going through one of its hissy-fit periods, but I can't remember where/what it was.
Assuming all this does go into force, then yes we will lose most of the photos that have been linked into the forum over the years. Sad.
Actually someone, somwhere, should be archving all this material as - among other things - there are quite a number of historically significant posts here that have been written by contributors that are no longer with us. Be sad to see them lost if the Board hosts ever go down.

As far as alternatives are concerned, there is Imgur for instance which supports the embedding of images on third-party sites. I hope it works for you."A word of caution from another group about Imgur We discussed imgur earlier in this thread, and if you read their terms of use then using them to host photos for use in this forum is strictly prohibited. If you use imgur you risk the same problem happening again.Paul

Several years ago I signed this forum and my website up to the National Library of New Zealand's initiative that would have regular sweeps by a robot that copies absolutely everything and archives it. I hope this is still happening.

As the enormity of the impact of this move sets in, I have realised that as well as the forum, many of the photos that have been posted to my website at www.cambridgeairforce.org.nz were also hosted on Photobucket and so they too have vanished. I have been going through finding the missing photos and reposting them via my own server. A massive job, every single page has to be checked. One thing I have discovered is an excellent article on Ted Harvie's page about his Avian has vanished and I cannot find the original scans anywhere. Did anyone happen to copy and save that old article at any time please? Do you have copies of the scans? www.cambridgeairforce.org.nz/Edgar%20Harvie.htm

Dave, I'm not sure how active you are on the Proboards Support Forum but I check in there from time to time and ask the occasional question for my own forum's benefit.
They do keep full backups of all of their forums should an issue arise including accidental Admin deletions!!
As for Photophukit... what a huge annoyance and it is causing grief for forums everywhere. I'm in the process of moving across to Flickr which so far is proving to be a good platform.
