Some of you may have seen some of the pic's I posted recently of the HARS (Albion Park, NSW) and Bull Creek (Perth, WA) Catalinas. These have sadly gone to Photobucket land so I will try and repost these down the track. The last Catalina in my ramblings around the great brown land resides near the old RAAF base at Rathmines NSW. This old gem was imported from South America, she has a long way to go but will one day be restored in RAAF markings and hopefully housed in a building at the old base.

Love the Cat. Can't wait to see her back to her best, even if she is grounded.

My second visit to this resto and while it doesn’t look like much has been done she is progressing well, lots of little things. Something that is esential for such an undertaking sponsorship is vital! The most notable change the start of blisters going back in. Lots of little things the cockpit controls restored.

Great shots! Is the resto Cat on the old base grounds? I spent a lot of time at Kilaben Bay when younger. Ive seen some amazing shots during wartime or just after of moored Cats right around the bay.

Close, the Cat is being restored above the Lake around ten minutes drive from the Rathmines base. The long term plan is she, post restoration, will reside in a purpose built building/hangar on the Rathmines Base.
Couple of things I was told about, plan is to have a running, ground based engine, operational wing tip floats among other things.
I visit Sydney most winters so plan to get up there on a regular basis.
