I wonder if it is possible it landed safely and was moved into this position. Only to be abandoned and finally sink at some later date. Landed? in a floatplane? That could have fairly disastrous consequences. I take it you mean alighted. |

Don't know? when I flew float planes I always landed them! You get wet otherwise....
