The Forum 3 is the latest Wings Over New Zealand Show, now online. In this episode three more aviators join me on The Forum panel to discuss news and views, and tell some great aviation stories. The panel in this episode are Dee Bond, Brett Nicholls and Mike Slack. Dee is a co-pilot and co-owner in the Catalina ZK-PBY syndicate. She’s also an air racer, an adventurer, a precision flying expert, an aerobatics pilot and an airfield owner, among other things. She is an absolute legend! Brett is a warbird pilot. Formerly the owner of two BAC167 Strikemasters, he also owns Harvard NZ1065 outright, and he is a syndicate member in Harvard NZ1052. He is on the committee for New Zealand Warbirds Association Inc. and is a big advocate for flying warbirds. Mike is an Air Traffic Controller, working in New Zealand’s busiest control tower at Auckland International Airport. He is also a keen aerobatics pilot and competitor, and he’s a member of the Giles 202 ZK-NUT syndicate. Here is the link: www.cambridgeairforce.org.nz/WONZShow/2017/09/the-forum-3/Mike, Dee and Brett

Another example of a subject that I would thought wouldn't interest me much, but was excellent - Dee talking about cross-country air races was entertaining and informative. The others were ok too ;-)

Yes Dee's stories were really interesting. What an amazing air race that is. I hope next year when she goes back to defend the trophy we will all follow and support her.

Bravo Dave, Dee, Brett and Mike! That was a great episode.
I really hope Dee gets onto that book. Man, those stories! And it was interesting to hear from Mike about ATC. I get the feeling I'd be one of those window people too!
Nerd moment: while they did try filming the Top Gun actors in the cockpit of an F-14 in the air, the results they got weren't terribly good (there are clips around - it's all fuzzy and not terribly cinematic). I wish I'd been able to see Dunkirk in the cinema! I heard an interview with Sir Ridley Scott and his Battle of Britain movie is very much on his mind.
