Wanaka man killed in paragliding crash on Mt Roy

A Wanaka paraglider has been found dead after crashing into a hillside.
Emergency services were called to Mt Roy, near Wanaka, just before 3pm on Tuesday after the paraglider crashed about halfway up the north side of the peak.
A rescue helicopter crew arrived at the scene about 5pm and found the man dead.
Police said the man was aged 54 and from Wanaka.
A cliff rescue team had since recovered the man's body and police were in the process of notifying his next of kin, they said.
