Presume that will be the B(I)8 with a WT RAF serial number, formerly used by 88 Sqdn. David D

WT346, to be precise (link). Although the airframe has no local provenance beside sitting in storage at Wigram it would be really cool to see it stay in NZ and be restored into RNZAF markings.

@afmuseumnz: Over the next few weeks, visitors will have the chance to see aircraft conservation in action, as our technical team undertake a detailed maintenance check of Lockheed Hudson NZ2013, in situ in the Aircraft Hall. #avgeek #airforcemuseumnz #museumconservation t.co/Ki8Ee8w3Ei

Great to see the Catalina getting some attention.
Question....do they have original beaching gear for her? I would be interested for measuring up for my 32nd scale kit
Any updates?
Cheers guys Anthony

Anthony, Cannot answer if they have the beaching gear or not, but you should be able to get good illustrations of this type of gear in the IPB (Illustrated Parts Book) for this type of aircraft. This gear (including the wheels and brakes) was produced in the USA by Hayes Industries. The other technical publications also give excellent instructions on how it was used to bring Cats out of the water, or return them to the briney. David D

Thanks David, I will look into that. Need to find the drawings/dimensions of the big radar scanner that sat atop the cockpit as well

No comments here to congratulate the newly appointed director?
Having had the pleasure of meeting Brett and showing him around Ferrymead some months ago, looking forward to a great working relationship going forward as they say.

Anthony it was mostly a check on condition, corrosion and stability - and a bit of conservation - on the Catalina. They are not planning to continue with the restoration at this stage, so it will go back into storage.
