It's a bigger gap to fly through than beneath THIS BRIDGE which has been flown beneath on numerous occasions in the past, including by an aeroplane while I was a passenger in it.

Why - do you know what happened?

I would be surprised if the pilot lost their license for that... More likely a stand-down period or "remedial training" (or both) depending on the particular circumstances, probably the second if it can be reasonably proven it was a misjudged takeoff and not an urge to be a showman.

I hope the Police will be investigating the person standing on the Harbour Bridge filming it as well. Pretty certain that's not legal either.

The end of the clip shows a port-a-loo on a trailer at an angle in the left-most traffic lane. Filmed by a maintenance worker during partial bridge shut-down on Boxing Day?

I hope the Police will be investigating the person standing on the Harbour Bridge filming it as well. Pretty certain that's not legal either. Back during the mid-1970s, it was a $20 fine if you got caught on the steelwork of the arch of Sydney Harbour Bridge. Myself and a couple of friends decided it was worth risking a $20 fine to climb around the security gate and head up across the arch late one night to check out the view. We didn't get caught. A few years later, they ramped up the fine to eye-watering levels. And these days, you can pay to walk across the bridge arch. We had plans to one day cross the Auckland Harbour Bridge in the same manner, but never got around to it. And now you can legally bungy-jump from the bridge.

I was in Devonport late this afternoon and saw the yellow and white Beaver climbing out after taking off. A great sight. I love those planes.

Jerry is a great bloke and a top pilot with tons of experience, who I'm sure would not have taken the actions he did without good cause. I hope the whole thing is now over for him.
