Looking through old issues of the Gisborne Photonews online I've happened upon a some great aviation photos so I thought it might be worth sharing some of them here in a varied thread: Here is one of their local boy and well known RNZAF pilot Bruce Donnolly DFC over Gisborne in a Tiger Moth. He was a Vietnam veteran, a Skyhawk pilot, and later an Air New Zealand pilot. He famously displayed the Boeing 747 at an airshow in Auckland. I know a lot of people in the Air Force, the airline and Warbirds knew him before he passed away, and he was well respected. This is from No. 156, June 14, 1967.

A shot of six Vampires low and tight over Gisborne, and below that an aviation display in a local department store. Why don't local department stores do displays to interest the public in aviation these days? This is from No 128 : February 24, 1965. Does anyone know the date the Vampires displayed at Gisborne?
