I have a Corsair carburetor and magneto that have some pitting and white powdery corrosion present. I presume they are magnesium? Any suggestions as to any chemicals to use to clean and neutralize the corrosion and any coatings to preserve them? I would prefer not to paint them but preserve them as is with a clear coating? Or do I just keep spraying them with wd40 or similar? Thanks for any tips!

WD40 will be fine. I only use Inox on aircraft components these days and go through litres of the stuff. Supercheap seem to be the cheapest source but it is still costing us around $85 for 5 litres (with free spray bottle).
I think that is the base of one of the two distributors (plus driven shaft and rotor) rather than the duplex magneto - the magneto sat on top of the reduction gear housing, "feeding" the distributors mounted either side of it. So still one more distributor and one magneto to locate. Sorry about that! David D
