Going through some photos the other day, and found these examples of the work of some RNZAF photograpers. I thought they were too good to stay in the box, so decided to share with you all: ELR Hercules by Les Billcliff, on Flickr Just think of the range, load and speed of this version. LR Andover by Les Billcliff, on Flickr This would help fill the shorter range roles. Dart Harvard by Les Billcliff, on Flickr Just think what the locals would think of the noise levels! There are some other variations created by photographers with too much time on his hands.

Do those date back to before the days of digital photography and Photoshop?
Or are they more recent creations?

They have been around for many a year, there also is one of a Devon with (I think) Darts and another of a 9 ship Vulcan formation overhead the Ohakea tower

They certainly date way back to real photography, when our photographers had to use mechanical cameras, process their own film and produce real prints. Yes, Shorty, I have seen those other two, but don't have prints at hand.

In other words, those images are real clever stuff.

There is one of a Friendship with four engines and a T-tail which looks really good. And another has the front of a Harvard and the back of a Devon. These were all done in the early 1980's.

Thanks for reminding me about the Friendship and the Harvard/Devon - I'll have to see if I can find them and add to this small collection.

Ross Macpherson published several of these images in WINGS magazine during the 1970s

Apologies Dave. I'm a long way from my archives at present and was relying on memory which is obviously not so good. Cheers mmax

They were all done before the magic of photoshop and electronic wizardry. They were stock PR photos that were manipulated by the photographers (cut and paste from prints) then re-photographed to produce the above results. Very clever chaps!

Actually, when I first opened this thread and before I took a real good look at the first photograph, I thought for about a second that I was looking at a Douglas C-133 Cargomaster.
Then I noticed the six engines and realised it was a spoof photo.
