Oh my goodness, what an awful photo...how horrible. There aren't many inline Yaks in Oz but I won't speculate as to who it may have been.

Incredibly tragic. Regular airshow performer and a beautiful Yak. Has not been a great year for them in this part of the world.

Aircraft confirmed as VH-YIX Yak 9UM as on Avaition Safety Network. No news on the name of the lost pilot. RIP

Seems like it's been a bad year in general for aviation accidents in the airshow and airline world. I suppose 2017 was an unusually good year so that maybe is still in my mind.
