I suppose I have misstated the type of shell, I heard them referred to as .303 and I've kept describing it as such without checking. But .50 does seem more like it now that I look at the shell I have.
The shell I found on site is stamped R.A 42 (One year prior to the crash) and has a rust mark matching where the belt would have laid. I firmly believe it is from the crash.
