For those who travel around the world, or live overseas, I am starting a thread for overseas airshows and air events. If you wish to add a non-NZ event, place the details in this thread. Here's a list of upcoming events, thanks to Morris Tull. I have added links for those that I can find. Shuttleworth shows in May and June cancelled, Torbay, Cosford and Yeovilton also cancelled. Midlands Air festival at Ragley Hall cancelled in May. RIAT at Fairford cancelled. Duxford still a hope however I fear that it shall be cancelled within a week. Won't be long before we hear that all UK shows for the season shall fall by the wayside So.....how about a list of aviation movies that we can all watch to pass the time ?

A much better suggestion is Survivors (1975). Bloody excellent series that used to be a 'what if?' but is now real life. There is a more modern remake too that is also excellent www.imdb.com/title/tt1258189/

I remember watching the original series of Survivors on TV. It was written by Terry Nation. Do you know another 'what if' that Terry Nation is most famous for writing about?
Daleks.
Just sayin'.

shorty......now that is brilliant. Some of the aerial shots are magnificent. Believe that they flew around for a long time (think Florida) to get the right cloudscapes.

Two classic helicopter (TV) movies that were very formative for me growing up, both from late director William A Graham.
Birds Of Prey 1973, starring David Janssen:
Deadly Encounter 1982, starring Larry Hagman:
Some of the best helicopter flying ever caught on film.

Well...........Flying Legends at Duxford is gone......Temora will announce if they will go ahead with the October date for Warbirds Downunder in early July but they are planning now as if it shall proceed. That looks like being the first "live" show for me for the year. Looking fwd to seeing Paul Bennet and the guys for their on-line show early next month....at least that shall temper all the others that have not been able to go ahead due to that damn bug. As well as Warbirds Downunder, soooooo much looking fwd to Wings over Wairarapa

If Temora does go ahead in October, I suspect there won't be many Kiwis crossing the Tasman to go to it.

RAF have advised today that Cosford Airshow which had been put back to a September date has now been cancelled for 2020. They cite ongoing Covid-19 restrictions on mass gatherings and international travel, plus difficulty in making all neccessary arrangements especially due to the airshow's reliance on international participants.

IWM Duxford have announced today that due to the current Covid-19 situation in the UK that they have made the difficult decision to cancel the 80th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain airshow scheduled for Duxford on 21-22 September 2020. Will be a lot of disappointed people in the UK who were looking forward to this airshow. I was fortunate to attend the 70th Anniversary BoB Airshow at Duxford back in 2010. Very memorable event, highlight being the Balbo of fifteen Spitfires & a Seafire, four Hurricanes, three Buchons, and a whole lot of other interesting types, interspersed with a look through the Museum as well before flying commenced. Duxford 1 by Colin Ford, on Flickr I had less gray hair then. Duxford 2 by Colin Ford, on Flickr Hurricane Lineup Duxford 3 by Colin Ford, on Flickr Merlin & Griffon powered flight line Duxford 4 by Colin Ford, on Flickr Spitfire PR.XIX PS853 - there is a Kiwi connection........ Duxford 5 by Colin Ford, on Flickr Red Arrows doing what they do so well wowing the crowd. Duxford 7 by Colin Ford, on Flickr BBMF trio doing their flypast before commencing their solo displays Duxford 8 by Colin Ford, on Flickr Balbo - fifteen Spitfires and a Seafire. The ensuing tail chase was epic as was the taxi back in past the crowd line after. Duxford 9 by Colin Ford, on Flickr A bit of French flair and passion, they put on a very slick and well received display. Duxford 2010 Spitfire PRXIX by Colin Ford, on Flickr Crowd line taxi in after the Balbo - yeah, that close!

Yep, very sad that more major airshows have suffered thanks to this ruddy virus. And especially so in an important anniversary year.

So far I am sure Temora is going ahead in October but guess things could change with this lurgy.Temora's Warbirds Downunder still listed as a go for 2021..........and just maybe we could have six Spitfires present?
